Dr. Audiologist Emel Uğur

Born in 1982 in Çanakkale, Dr. Audiologist Emel Uğur is one of Turkey’s leading figures in hearing and balance health, thanks to her academic and clinical expertise in audiology. She began her professional career at the Istanbul Training and Research Hospital, where she worked for 15 years, focusing on pediatric audiology, otologic disorders, and vestibular system dysfunctions. Since 2015, she has been a part of the Acıbadem Healthcare Group, continuing her work at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital and Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University.
Emel Uğur holds a PhD in Audiology from Istanbul Aydın University. Her doctoral thesis explored brain mapping of motion sickness using EEG and virtual reality technologies. In her master’s research, she evaluated the effectiveness of virtual reality-based vestibular rehabilitation.
Academically, she serves as a faculty member and head of the Audiometry Department at Acıbadem University Vocational School of Health Services, mentoring young professionals in audiology education and scientific research.
Her clinical interests include hearing loss, balance disorders, motion sickness, virtual reality-based vestibular rehabilitation, and cognitive-vestibular functions in the elderly.

Dr. Uğur has served as a reviewer for many international journals indexed in SCI-E and ESCI, including Journal of International Advanced Otology, Nature, Frontiers Virtual Reality, and Journal of Audiology and Otology.
